Course Project: Part 3—Translating Evidence Into Practice

In Part 3 of the Course Project, you consider how the evidence you gathered during Part 2 can be translated into nursing practice.

Now that you have located available research on your PICOT question, you will examine what the research indicates about nursing practices. Connecting research evidence and findings to actual decisions and tasks that nurses complete in their daily practice is essentially what evidence-based practice is all about. This final component of the Course Project asks you to translate the evidence and data from your literature review into authentic practices that can be adopted to improve health care outcomes. In addition, you will also consider possible methods and strategies for disseminating evidence-based practices to your colleagues and to the broader health care field.

To prepare:

· Consider Parts 1 and 2 of your Course Project. How does the research address your PICOT question?

· With your PICOT question in mind, identify at least one nursing practice that is supported by the evidence in two or more of the articles from your literature review. Consider what the evidence indicates about how this practice contributes to better outcomes.

· Explore possible consequences of failing to adopt the evidence-based practice that you identified.

· Consider how you would disseminate information about this evidence-based practice throughout your organization or practice setting. How would you communicate the importance of the practice?

To complete:

In a 3- to 4-page paper:

· Restate your PICOT question and its significance to nursing practice.

· Summarize the findings from the articles you selected for your literature review. Describe at least one nursing practice that is supported by the evidence in the articles. Justify your response with specific references to at least 2 of the articles.

· Explain how the evidence-based practice that you identified contributes to better outcomes. In addition, identify potential negative outcomes that could result from failing to use the evidence-based practice.

· Outline the strategy for disseminating the evidence-based practice that you identified throughout your practice setting. Explain how you would communicate the importance of the practice to your colleagues. Describe how you would move from disseminating the information to implementing the evidence-based practice within your organization. How would you address concerns and opposition to the change in practice?

Teaching Plan Project, Week 4 Assignment 2 help

Question description

Assignment 2: Teaching Plan Project

As part of the teaching plan you began in Week 3, this week you will create a 10-page paper (excluding the title page, references, and Appendices) considering a specific population and topic to be taught to the learners on a patient safety initiative from the IOM and QSEN competencies. This can be for a group of patients in a hospital setting, staff education, or a group of clients in a community setting (such as Planned Parenthood, adult education).

Lesson Planning and Teaching Strategies

In this section of the teaching plan, you are asked to research and discuss your selected teaching strategies taking into consideration the learning needs, learning styles, and cultural diversity of your target audience. Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies that includes innovative teaching strategies to promote an active learning environment. Integrate appropriate technology-based teaching strategies and evidence-based techniques into your teaching plan. In the Appendix, include the handouts that will be distributed and any other additional teaching aids.

Evaluation

In this section, you will create an assignment using technology in nursing education that is designed to evaluate students’ learning on the achievement of the objectives stated in your teaching plan.

To get started, visit:

http://www.cmu.edu/teaching/assessment/assesslearning/creatingassignments.html

This web page provides information on how to create effective assignments. Also, at the bottom of the page there is a checklist which can be used as a guide to ensure that you include all of the necessary components in the assignment you create.

Be sure to include the following:

  • The purpose of the evaluative assignment that uses technology in nursing education
  • A written description of the assignment (not a test, an evaluative assignment)
  • The assignment instructions, as they will appear to learners
  • Clear expectations regarding format and presentation, required citation style, due dates, and consequences for late submissions
  • Evaluation criteria (how you plan to grade the assignment, i.e., rubric)
  • Points or percentage value to pass

As you create your paper, be sure that you follow APA guidelines for writing style, spelling and grammar, and citation of sources. Submit this assignment to the W4: Assignment 2 Dropbox .

Assessment in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Assessment in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Infant, childhood, and adolescent development are a continual interplay between nature (genetic or biologic predisposition) and nurture (environmental experiences). The nature/nurture continuum and debate will always be a part of your career as a PMHNP. Knowing common developmental milestone is important in the role as a child provider. Not only is it essential to the diagnostic process, but it is also important to the interdisciplinary interactions with other mental health professionals. The study of normal developmental processes, however, is only one tool that allows the mental health professional to understand the child being evaluated. There are many different assessment instruments and interviewing techniques that PMHNPs can have in their toolkit when working with children and adolescents.

In this Discussion, you examine the differences in assessing and treating children and adolescents versus adults. You take into consideration your own clinical experiences, as well as your experiences in your clinical rotation, and the information from the readings thus far.

                                                    Assignment

Post your answers to the following:

 · Explain why a developmental assessment of children and adolescents is

    important.

· Describe two assessment instruments and explain why they are used for

children and adolescents but not adults.

· Describe two treatment options for children and adolescents that may not be

   used when treating adults.

· Explain the role parents play in assessment and treatment.

PLEASE, INCLUDE INTRODUCTION, CONCLUSION, 3 OR MORE REFERENCES LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, AND ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS AS INSTRUCTED.

Power, politics, and Collective Bargaining on Organizational Climate

List and support your reasons for or against striking.

You are a staff nurse in the ICU in one of your city’s two hospitals. You have worked at this hospital for 5 years and transferred to the ICU 2 years ago. You love nursing but are sometimes frustrated in your job due to a short supply of nurses, excessive overtime demands, and the stress of working with such critically ill patients.

The hospital has a closed shop, so union dues are deducted from your pay even though you are not actively involved in the union. The present union contract is up for renegotiation, and union and management have been unable to agree on many issues. When management made its last offer, the new contract was rejected by the nurses. Now that the old contract has expired, nurses are free to strike if they vote to do so.

You had voted for accepting the management offer; you have two children to support, and it would be devastating to be without work for a long time. Last night, the nurses voted on whether to return to the bargaining table and try to renegotiate with management or to go out on strike. Again, you voted for no strike. You have just heard from your friend that the strike vote won. Now, you must decide if you are going to support your striking colleagues or cross the picket line and return to work tomorrow. Your friends are pressuring you to support their cause. You know that the union will provide some financial compensation during the strike but believe that it will not be adequate for you to support yourself and your children. Yo agree with union assertions that the organization has overworked and underpaid you and that it has been generally unresponsive to nursing needs. On the other hand, you believe that your first obligation is your children.

Using a problem-solving and decision making skills model discussed in class outline how you would approach solving this difficult decision. Describe how you arrived at your decision. How many alternatives did you generate? If you were financially stable without a family would your decision have been the same?
